Travelling on a K1 with pets

Hi,

 

Have any other members had experience of taking their pets with them to the US on a K1 visa?

Any issues at POE? Has anyone successfully travelled with an emotional support dog?

I flew with my dog back in September, but I didn't have K1 visa.

POE they only want to see all health documents that you have to prepare prior entry.

1. not older than 10 days - Health statement from Vet

2. Pet passport, list all vaccines that US- required.

My mother just brought my dog to the US last week (from Germany) and it's a pretty simple and straight forward situation. Here's some info straight from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/importation/bringing-an-animal-into-the-united-states/dogs.html

Paul drove his dogs down from canada last year. All he needed was a copy of current vaccinations including rabies. he might not have told him he was MOVING the dogs own but they also DIDNT ASK lolololol got the typical ' what is the reason for your visit and how long are you staying'

 

it might be different from other countries especially if youre flying them over. Thats not exactly a road trip with fido lolol

How did you guys transport your dogs? In the cabin? As cargo in the hold?

Having a dog in the cabin is pretty rare. Its not easy getting a dog registered as an emotional support animal since many people started abusing that system.

I will be traveling with Delta, they have a wonderful animal transport department. They will fly in a special part of the hold that is temperature and air pressure controlled.

I had my dog unaccompanied. it was heart breaking but otherwise your dog and carrier not exceeded 15 lbs you cant have it in cabin.

Lufthansa is good for pet cargo.

My dog is already registered as an emotional support dog and I will travel to Paris in order to hopefully fly with my partner and I in the cabin. He is 10kg.

I've always wondered about the difference between an emotional support dog and a regular dog.  Do you have to purchase a seat for the emotional support dog?

Hey, No you do not have to purchase a seat for an ESD, however, we will so that we are all comfortable! :-)

I see the OP is from the United Kingdom..since the UK is free from rabies, I believe there used to be a six month mandatory quarantine. Here evidence of vaccinations is good enough it seems.

Someone I know has their French Bulldog registered as an ESA.
She flew with Delta last year and had no problems. He was in the foot area of her seat.

We take our family pet across the border (Bridge P.O.E) all the time. They only ask that you have the current vaccines up to date from a Vet.  Sometimes they just ask if shes up to date with the vaccines, and they wont even take a look at them, they'll just wave you to go on. 

I know for a fact that it's mandatory for a dog to be at least 4 months old since rabies vaccine doesn't work on younger dogs.

I traveled successfully with my emotional support cockroach. He cleared immigration like a champ!
