Ohh you should never send original documents, unless they specifically request it. And also they’re less likely to send you back your original document, as you gonna need it when you go do your biometrics for example...so yes they might send you an RFE asking you to provide proof of name change ....

Hey, so Part 5 of Form I-864  number 3 would left blank... otherwise we are counting the beneficiary twice.. can anyone explain this

Hi Guys, 

I just wanna know have you received any notifications from USCIS? Any idea how long is the waiting time for the EAD to come I mean the combo card to be sent to us? I hope everything will be fast. San Francisco filer here btw. 

Just sharing my timeline in submitting my AOS: 
May 3, 2018- Sent AOS, AP and EAD
May 7, 2018- Letter was received by USCIS and was signed for by R Mercado
May 10, 2018- Received notifications regarding applications for AP, EAD and AOS from USCIS thru text message and email

Hopefully will be able to hear from them again soon. 

They said the EAD and AP comes after 4months and the GC waiting is up to a year.

Hey all, I'm new to the group (previously over in the June i129 filers group :) ). I arrived in the US last week and we're marrying next Friday, so I will be a May AOS filer very shortly. I had a quick question about how you guys opened a bank account. They said they only need my ID and a proof of residence (US drivers license/utility bill etc), but I have no idea how to get one. What did you guys do for the proof of residence? Cheers for all your help, it feels amazing to actually finally be here!!

We have two copies for that reason. Other people have said they got RFEs requesting an original so it didn't matter to us. Neither of us changed our name.

When my husband opened a bank account here as a tourist (Capital One) all he needed was his passport. Granted, the account was limited in some way, but he still was able to open one. For proof of residence, a driver's license requires a social security card, which you can actually use as proof of residence as long as the card is still attached to the address portion (at least this was the case at the DPS--they didn't accept it as proof of residence because the card had been detached from the address portion.)
