Getting tourist visa after living one year abroad with green card ?

Hello,

hope this is the right forum: after my wife got a green card (I'm a US citizen), we've lived in US for 1.5 years, then we had to move to Europe because of work and we are planning to stay here for a long time. We moved here last February, so based on what I've read, my wife's green card has lost its validity. However, all articles that I've read relate only to getting back the permanent residence status, but we are only looking to get the tourist visa for her, so our kids can visit grandparents back in the US. Can anybody suggest how we should approach such matter ?

Thanks,

Anton

She should formally relinquish her LPR status.. search the USCIS website for  the form and process..then she should apply for a visitors visa...

Assuming she is not eligible to the VWP.

I have seen this be successful in getting a tourist visa from countries that are difficult to get a tourist visa from.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Costly way to get a visitor visa !!  We were LPR for 10 years 1980 to 1989, voluntarily relinquished it upon our return to Australia, then travelled  using VWP and then  ESTA from 1990 through 2016 when we immigrated again, this time on IR 5

OP said she is not eligible for a VWP so tourist visa is the only option... also, last time I got a visitor visa it was somewhere around 160Euro... I don't really consider that expensive at all considering the prices for all the other visas..
