brother Bringing My Brother to USA

Hi everyone 

I am American citizens born in egypt

I am 50 years old during last 23 years living in United States  I lost my family members but still have one brother and he's 45 years old and i want to see if any way i can bring him to usa legal

Yes, as a USC you can petition for a sibling.

ETA: ~15+ years. Maybe 20+ years.

 

Edit: Other options are if he can obtain a work visa (i.e. H-1B, L-1, etc.), maybe Diversity Visa (DV), or an investor visa if he is well-off. Or O-1 if he has an exceptional ability. These are more fringe options...it's not easy/likely to obtain these, but are being listed as options for completeness.

The good news is, yes you can.

The bad news is, it is going to take a long time.

Not "up to" 15 years. There's no "up to"s in immigration.

Likely 15 years or longer. It's only a small chance that it will take under 15 years IMO.

Is it the same about bringing a father or mother to the US? somewhere I saw that it would not that that long.

Parents of a USC are considered immediate relatives, and therefore not subject to limits on the number of visas issued every year. So their wait is around a year or so.

A sibling falls into the family preference category, which is limited per year. In particular, siblings are 4th preference (F4), which has the longest wait.

That's interesting, thank you geowrian. I was confused because some time ago, around here, I saw something about someone bringing a parent and they didn't say the 15 year thing but now I understand why!

For sibling category it WILL be 15 years or even longer. It is growing every year. Also, there are some in the current administration that would like to eliminate the ability for immigrants to bring over siblings. So file as soon as you can.

 

@geowrian mentioned other options earlier but keep in mind those options are not guaranteed.

I would say 20 years plus. That is of course the category is not cancelled
