You would need 125% of the poverty line number.  If you are $2,000 over THAT number and have a history of qualifying income, there should be no need for a joint sponsor.

If you made over the poverty line for the past three years, JA will not make you get a joint sponsor.  If you just made it this current tax year (2017), and not in 2016, 2015 they will make you get a sponsor.

That's why they ask for the last three year, this is good to know!! I was just planning on sending them the most recent tax year. I've been with my current employer for 4.5 years.

I'm getting mixed answers from this what I've seen. Loads of people say that the current tax year is gonna matter the most and that they almost wont really look at the previous ones if you can prove you are making over 125% poverty line.

Like my wife have been around 15K year 2016, 2017 and probably this year as well in US as we been traveling abroad to work. So obviously not above 125% line. But she will now work in US for the whole 2019 and make over 125% line. And we will also have around 30K in assets to show, will they make us get a joint sponsor anyways??

kind Regards

SR

The affidavit asks for INFORMATION from three tax returns but requires only the most recent of those three to be submitted.  Sending three can be a good idea, if you think it will help in your situation.
