Name - wrong order on documents

My fiance’s name (example: Nguyen Thi Thuy Lien: last (Nguyen), first name (lien), middle name (thi thuy).  When my fiance’s paperwork was done or at the time she was admitted into the US, they listed her last name as “nguyen” and her first as “Thi Thuy Lien) and no middle name.

The question is:

1.  Should i go somewhere and see if they could change her name to the property format with Lien as first name only and Thi Thuy is middle name?  Or should i just leave it as is to save the confusion and possible delay in paperwork.

2.  On the AOS form, should I fill out the part that ask “other name used” and put as Nguyen as last, Lien as first, and Thi Thuy as middle? and write a letter of explanation?

I do not want to delay the AOS process and I do not want a mismatch between her documents here with her Vietnam passport in the case there is an issue when she needs to travel.

Please help!!  What should I do?

I went to the SS office and apply already but they say that they can't change it.  It has to match with immigration so the name is still the same.

Have you done her ssn application?

If not, I did change the names order myself.

U must call CBP at the airport where she entered to the states. Then provide them the passport#, firstname lastname and best contact in case they will call you back. (If they ask to leave the message, dnt worry just leave the message and they will call u back in2-3 days) Then just ask them to switch the names order over the phone. Once they say its done. Just go ahead to print the new I94 online. Bring this i94 to SSA office and you should be good.

I did already. :( I wish I posted this question earlier before I went and get the Social Security card.  I didn't realize that you can be able to call customs and have them change the name without having to be at one of the offices in person.

Thank you for your help guys.

I called JFK CBP in new york

https://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports/john-f-kennedy-international-airport

same goes for other airports. Sneak out their phone number and call.

Since u already did, still have a chance to rectify it if court allows you to change/swap her names or file exact order for marriage certificate. then file i485 with correct orders on marrage certificate and her green card will arrive with correct sequence. So you can go back to SSA with gc to update her ssa. If thats too much work, go with Thi Nguyen till she files her naturalization :D
