My wife is a USC petitioning for her mother. She is an unemployed housewife.

Will she be required to submit an Affidavit of Support and if so will our joint IRS returns be accepted?  I make a low six figure income so I don’t see our joint income being a problem but will I need to also file an AOS?

Thanks for your replies.

The advice noted above is well stated.

I'll just add that you should also start seeking information on her mother's healthcare. I don't know her age, but she should have a plan to obtain health insurance since she won't qualify for most public aid for some years. If she intends to work, then presumably her employer will offer coverage. If not, the cost to get your own plan can be quite expensive, so planning ahead is crucial.
