Good day everyone!

I would like to confirm if its true that if you are TB positive you need to undergo treatment in st.lukes extension clinic only. I am from the province and its 8hours drive from our place and in addition I have work I can't stay there for 6mos. Its depressing when I read someone's post about that . :'( 

 

I would also want to know if after 6mos.of treatment i will undergo again with sputum test and culture?

Well, yes and no. If you are TB positive, you must undergo treatment. You don't have to go through SLEC, but it's highly suggested to do so and is the fastest way to get a clean medical exam by far.

If you go through treatment at SLEC, you're looking at ~6 months.

If you don't go through treatment at SLEC, you're looking at ~6 months, followed by a 1 year waiting period before SLEC will accept the results. And they need to verify that the treatment meets CDC requirements, which can be an issue. SLEC follows CDC requirements strictly.

 

At the end of the treatment, you will need to complete the medical again. I have seen one user report that they had to go through sputum again, but I don't believe this is usual.

If you do it outside SLEC, then yes. Well, at least one year.
