Hi, i applied for a position with a dental office, i never worked in this field but i have met some of their requirement, i was wondering who is going to pay me if i work there? the dentist?  its not a company ,

When i went there for an interview the doctor who scheduled my interview and was supposed to meet was not there , my interview was  with an experienced receptionist that i will work with if hired, she asked if i'm cool with 11.00/h,  its full time with no benefit, no holiday pay, no vacations, and i guess  she said no sick leave, the location of job is  a little close to my location but  i don't know if this job looks real or no, what do you think?

Would make sure to get the offer in writing. Sounds like perhaps it may be "entry" level type so a lot of times benefits aren't given/available. Each company or private business is different on what they offer.

Don't take it wrong, not meaning any offense, but any job really that is at $11/hr isn't going to offer paid vacation, paid sick days, ect. They just aren't unless you find the rare one.

For a smaller medical practice, it will most likely come from the dental practice. Even if there is one dentist, that is quite normal. My dental office has 2-3 people working up front with admin tasks and only one dentist. For a job paying $11.00/hour (minimum wage in California), it's also pretty standard to not include benefits, sick leave, etc. Depending on the state, there may be some minimum guarantees for things like sick leave.

No you should not except this job no benefits the pay is not that good? ask yourself will you except something like that in your country.

It might be an entry level position  but still they should provide benefits ask them how soon you can get benefits that is worth more then the pay per hour if benefits are good

But do you WANT to work at McDonalds or at a nice little dental office? Only the OP can decide.  I agree with t-bone to find out if benefits are eventually earned or if they are never given.

Even if this is not the job of your dreams, it can provide valuable experience which will help you find the perfect job in the future.  Even intangible benefits are worth considering.  Sometime we have to start with baby steps before we can run.....but only you can decide if this is what you want right now.....good luck in your decision and your future.

From experience with my dental practice, as it is only a small business, while he pays his employees and dental hygienists, he does not offer them health benefits or much other benefits to speak. Some do have second jobs. He's a good guy though, so if they need off for emergencies he's understanding about that. It's the same with my small town vet. 11/hr is a starting salary pretty much, and is expected at an entry level position. Consider the offer unless you have better ones in the area that give benefits. Doctors will usually only offer benefits if they are a bigger practice.

I  was not trying to be negative. I was just pointing out that there are minimum wage  jobs that offers benefits, MacDonald was just an example  most constructions jobs also offer benefits even for new people just learning the trade and there are other types of jobs

My wife first job here was cashier sales lady at goodwill she made minimum wage but Goodwill had benefits. I do not know the op Background, but the way the post was written gave me the impression that the person was not that interested in the job.   Also it seems the op has no experience in the dental field. If this is something the OP  wants to do then this job is probably good at least the op can gain experience and maybe later get benefits, but if this is  not something that the op really wants to do and there is no chance for benefits.  Then I see no point in working for a company with minimum wage and no benefits,

MANY people, from minimum wage to highly qualified  professionals, take a step down on the jobs ladder when they move to the US. One should keep the long view in sight: the fact that OP has been offered a job at a professional practice is a good start (and in most instances a dental practice will be better on the resume than Macdonald’s, unless you plan a career in fast food) even if benefits are low to start. The idea is to get into the market in the first place, get US experience under your belt, and then start moving up back to where you “should” be.

It’s also true that many people immigrating here are somewhat shocked to find stuff they take for granted “back home” (benefits, vacation, notice period etc) is not always, or even often, standard in the US.

I did state that if a person is interested  in the field of dentistry then this is probably a good job to start however  just because it is your first offer or because it close does not make it a good job offer especially one with out  benefits

not only  people who move here have to take lower pay. I have switch careers before in my life and took lower pay but a job offer with no beneneficts. a person will have to ask himself is that what they will really want to do. A dental practice is not always better then McDonalds when it comes to work experience unless the career the person wants to do is more toward dentist  medical or perhaps secretary admistrative work. other type careers,  working at McDonald's might look better on resume. I work in construction  as an electrician . will  a person working at McDonald's or  for a dental practice wanting to get in that field  have an advantage over the other .  not really     I also mention other career that offer jobs at minimum pay with benefits

just because a person moves to the U.S does not mean they have to be desperate when it comes to jobs

Again if this is something the op is interested in doing then good they should but if it is just to get a job then I see no point in taking a job with no benefits
