HOLA! I am new to this in March 19, I sent my husband I-601A packet the USCIS received it March 23, and April 5 they sent me his receipt now am just waiting for his biometric appointment. Now am wondering how long is the wait for a waiver to be approved? Has this year been a faster process? thank you!

Welcome!! I’ve hear there is like a 4-6 month wait. Our dates are within the same month so if I hear anything I’ll be sure to post right away!! Good luck 👍

Hey all! New to this forum!! So we applied for my husband's 601A in late December 2017. It was accepted on 1/4/18 and is being processed by the National Benefits Center. We got the Biometrics appointment in mid January for an appt in February (small note - I don't know if every center allows it, but it just so happened that the day we received the notice, my husband was home from work. Although it was a good 2-3 weeks before the actual appointment date, we went to the processing center, explained to them that we came early because my husband was off from work - it had to be approved by an immigration officer - it sounded intimidating but the officer was so sweet and approved us right away).

Anyways, we are just in the waiting game right now. Hopefully we hear something in the next few weeks. We are doing this through a lawyer. If the waiver is approved, I guess we just wait for an appointment to go to Cuidad Juarez?

yay! have you done the DS260?

We finally had our ds260 submitted on 4/18/18 and we did our affidavit of support. Now to keep waiting....... 😜🙏

Our lawyer told us a few days ago that the waiver process has been slow and that it might take up to 8-10 months! :( We hope this is not the case

Ours told us the same thing! I hope that we can be some of the lucky ones that gets approved quickly. Meanwhile nothing else to do but wait.... This is so stressful. I wonder what factors in to decide who gets through faster? Or does it depend on the particular officer working on a stack of cases? Immigration is such a mystery😞😢

hi! I have a question now that i know my husband case was sent to the Nebraska center and i know they have received his packet and fees. my question is do they email you or text you about your case? the last email/ text that i got from them was they accepted his fingerprint fee and just to wait for my receipt number, its been a month... Does it really take that long for biometric appointment?

My wavier was received on 2/12 and we got our biometrics appt. on 3/24. It was scheduled for 4/5. I think it also depends on the office where they do the fingerprinting and what they have available. I’ve seen other people with my same received date and they got their appointments before us. Unfortunately they send us everything snail mail. I haven’t received one email or text from them. Even though we sent the form for email/ text responses and I signed up for them on the website....:(

As far as I know you do the i601a first. Then you send the ds260 that way the NVC knows that you’re doing the Wavier before they process and make your appointment.

You could send it all in at the same time, NVC will know either way not to make an interview appointment until they get the approval from USCIS, it will save you time in the end since your waiting anyway.

It's been a comfort to read all these threads with people waiting and as anxious as me about this whole process so I'd promise myself I would give an update as soon as I got my 601a approved.

My application was sent to Nebraska.

Received notice of 601a 1/31/2018

Biometric appointment 3/15/2018

601a approval date 4/23/2018

I wish I sent the affidavit of support and civil documents at the same time but I thought it would take longer since everybody say that the processing time is more slow now and it takes up to 6 to 8 months to be approved. So I was nicely surprised that it took them around 3 months. Now I have to hurry to send my documents. I'll keep you updated! Good luck to all! There is hope.

Ahhh, so the USCIS office in Nebraska can do an I-601a approval in a somewhat timely manner, a little less than three months.

I know you want to send all your documents to the NVC quickly, but please make sure you send EVERYTHING on their checklist or have your case delayed.  The infamous Police Clearance certificate for one.

Good luck and congrats on your I-601a approval.  Big step forward.
