Requesting case transfer?

Hello all. Long time reader, first time asker.

Has anyone requested and been approved to have their case transferred from one center to the other?

I send the I-130 for my wife and it was received (NOA1) on 06/14/2017. It went to the Nebraska Service Center. I feel like they are taking forever to review. I live in Texas and according to there website and this one, the Texas center is processing things faster (62 days Visa Journey, 107 USCIS ).

I chatted with someone on the USCIS website and inquired about transferring my case. He said all I had to do was request it and gave me the address to do it.

I’m wondering if anyone has done that and also what the cons of this would be.

If this will start the process over again then I should just stay where it is. If this means I will get my file prioritized due to being way past Texas review date then I’ll do it.

 What yall think?

I assure you it really happened. I advised I live in Texas and would like my file to be reviewed in Texas due to it being faster. He told me to send request to: Texas Service Center 4141 St. Augustine Rd. Dallas, TX 75227 and they would see if they can take the case.

Now putting in request and getting it approved are two different things.

the point of my post is to see if anyone else has done it or to see what the drawbacks would be.

I believe you were told what you claimed. They won't do it though.

IMO keep your case where it is to avoid any more delays. You re almost there.

Why should your petition be processed any faster than anyone else just because you live in Texas? Why do you think you miss your wife any more than anyone else misses theirs? I can promise you that my husband and I do not love each other any less than you and your wife love each other. And every other couple going through this will say the same.

Files are allocated to service centers based on resources and workload. It's nothing to do with where you live. Having the petition processed in the sane state as your residence has no impact whatsoever on the outcome. You are no more or less likely to be approved. I did read that those who live in the states where the service centers are based (California, Nebraska, Texas, Vermont, Maryland), and in particular those who live within a commutable distance from the centers, are more likely to have their cases sent to a different state just in case they know someone who works at the service center.

Where are you getting your information that Texas is faster? If it's from the stats on this site, please note that "Texas" also includes all DCF filers (for some reason the program used to calculate processing times puts the DCF people in the Texas service center) so this gives Texas the appearance of being faster because the average processing time is reduced due to the DCF cases.

Some things I learned during this process: it takes as long as it takes, everything happens for a reason and you need to find something better to do with your time than compare the processing times for other centers or it will drive you crazy.

Timeline in brief:

I don‘t think this will go thru as easily as you think it might!

It might seem that they choose the service center where they send the petition to very randomly and maybe it is, but as mentioned in a previous comment I also think it has something to do with workload as well as the fact you might know someone if it‘s in the state you live in!

Also, I know Nebraska takes even a little longer than other centers and I hate being patient so much, but if your date is as you mentioned in June 2017 then just hold up for another few weeks and don‘t waste youe time with this!

I don't see the logic of taking a case that has been in one center working it's way to the top of the pile to send it somewhere else to go to the bottom of the stack.  They work off receipt date.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
