Which passport(?)

Hi everyone. I will be flying from Florida to New Brunswick Canada and then a return trip as well of course. I currently have both a Canadian and in the process of obtaining my naturalized US passport. Do I use my Canadian to get into Canada? And then my American to get back into the US? Confused 🤷‍♀️Many thanks

When exiting or entering the US, a USC should use their US passport.

I don't know Canada's laws, but many countries follow the same setup.

But the US definitely does, and requires US citizens to both enter and leave the US on a US passport if you are a US citizen.

I just use my US passport to enter Canada. It just costs way to much to keep up with the Canadian passports, since they don't care I don't bother.

Exit and enter w/ a US passport.

 

It gets a little weirder when you're flying since who knows which passport the worker at the airline counter will put in.

My kids have UK and US passports. Provide the UK passport when leaving the US at the check in desk. Provide the UK passport at the border in the UK. Provide US passport when leaving UK at the check in desk and same at the border in the USA.

 

Canada and USA is a bit more relaxed at the land/air border, I’m near the border so most of my flights to the UK are from Canada since its like half the price of my local US airport. The UK/US one is more stringent, always a pain when traveling as a family.
