My wife came to the US on a K1 visa, we married and she has gotten her adjustment of status (3/20/2017) a two year green card..  Our son was in the US on a k2 visa, but she took him home before his adjustment of status paperwork was complete.  Now I need to bring him back with a new visa.  My understanding is that I need to file an I-130 for him and start the whole process over again, with a 12 to 14 month wait.  And if that's what I need to do, so be it. We will start the process.

However, I'm wondering if we can do a follow to join for him?  He had a k2, entered and left. Now she has her Green Card.  Can she just request a follow to join? Is that a viable path?

Sorry but the K2 was already used the first time he came. K visas are onetime use only.  Like you said, you will have to start over with a I-130.
