Hi everyone!

Judy entered the US on a K1 visa two weeks ago, and we got married last week. We are now in the process of assembling the i-485 package. Looking through the flow chart it we noticed we skipped the SSN part. However Judy already has a SSN from when she attended school in the states several years back and she is not planning on changing her name. Do we still need to visit the SSA office?

Nope. An SSN remains for life, and if the card has the correct info then there's no need to replace it.

 

After getting a green card, she can go to the SSA to get an "unrestricted" card (one that doesn't reference the need for DHS authorization).

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

5/1/2017: Case received by Manila (1 week embassy transfer??? Lucky~)

7/13/2017: Interview: APPROVED!!!

7/19/2017: Visa in hand

8/15/2017: POE
