You have a valid concern though.  It's not like you filed 3 weeks ago.

Call your local office.  They have your application by now.

How can he call his local office if they 'never have their own phone number'? Also, do they really work on AP in the local office? I was sure it goes to National Benefits Center. At least, EAD does, that's what they told me in my local office, that they don't do it there.

I have kind of the same situation, need to travel ASAP but can't really apply for emergency AP. Wish you a good luck with receiving yours.

Guess you dont really need to travel then if its not an emergency unless you want to spend the time and money on a spousal visa

Your guess is wrong. Situations are different as people are. Don't guess if you don't know the situation or a person who has to go through it.

Obviously it is your choice if you want to apply for a spousal visa because your reason for travel does not qualify for emergency AP.  If travel was important then the CR1 would have been a more logical choice.   I knew the differences and picked the appropriate visa to begin with, but as you say, everyone is different.

This is why it is so important to not make any travel plans (booking flights, hotels etc) for outside the country before you have your travel documents in hand. Nothing you can do other than wait.

The OP stated he had made travels plans for the holidays...

Okay I know you pre-edit say you didn't know why I quoted you. As you can see in my post, the part above your quote is a general message and the part underneath it is where I actually quoted you. So the travel plan part is not directed to you.

The part I quoted you on was you saying we shouldn't guess what the OP's intentions where when the OP had clearly stated his/her intentions.

Hey there, folks.

I have a pending I-131 (travel document) for travel that I've got planned next month for the holidays. I filed the document request along with the EAD and AOS papers, and received a NOA1 on June 15th, 2017. This seems like plenty of advanced notice (6 months).

I still have not recieved any update on my case. I called customer support and they said it went to the National Benefits Center and referred me to their processing times. Their support was completely unhelpful.

The I-131 form is handled by so many different service centers, so I'm not sure what the correct processing time to look at is. The NBC says they're processing up to September, which would have already passed me. The I-131 was sent to the Chicago lockbox along with my AOS and EAD.

I totally understand your situation. EAD/AP are handled by the NBC and not your local office.

I am sure (well I hope) you have received your EAD/AP by now. If so, is there anything you did to get them to finally process your EAD/AP?

I am in the same situation, I haven't booked any flight tickets yet but I want to travel home in March.

I was told by USCIS that EAD is handled by your local office?

I applied in August and havent heard a thing about either GC or EAD..... And my local office online say it is one of the fastest in the country.

I heard that EAD is handled by the NBC, I don't know what to believe now.

I think you should call up and open a service request, or better yet make an info pass appointment to find out what is going on.

I have made one service request in november and one in december. No one ever got back to me on either of them. I am not allowed to make a new one until 20th January.

Closest office is 3,5h drive away so it isnt possible for me to do that....

Each email that they send you after you submit EAD/AP application starts with "Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing". I would believe that)

About service requests: unfortunately, some requests they review but never reply, that's what happened to me. They told me to wait up to 30 days. In 32 days I called and was told that somebody reviewed the request but "had no chance to reply". Ok, we submitted another one. Same thing. So after total 2 months waiting I asked them to make a mark that this is my third request. Finally, 2 more weeks and I got a response that they are still processing.

How long have you been waiting for your EAD?

It's been 5 months now. I received my AP in like 2 months after I applied for it though which was a big surprise. I also know some people still keep receiving EADs within 90 days. So it's really so different for everybody(
