Hi everyone,

I sent my documents (both packages together) to NVC in September and received a confusing email from them, right after the documents arrived. It had the subject "NVC Notice of Missing Item" and stated that they had received the package, but essentially both the Affidavit of Support documents and the civil documents were missing. No specifics.

Is this the infamous "false checklist"? The email was sent so quickly after package delivery that I doubt a human had time to examine the contents of the package. I used NVC's online contact form to ask for clarification, but so far no response. I hate to call them unnecessarily, since I'm abroad and that's a very long-distance call.

What so you guys think? Do I need to worry? Do I need to call them, or will they send me something by mail if I really need to send something again? Is this just their standard way of saying "Hey, we got the stuff you sent"?

We had exactly same situation. Sep 8 we have send the papers and Sep 9 we've got that "false checklist". The package was delivered at sep 12. But we didn't get any emails from NVC about that. We found out our scan date is sept 21 by the phone call. But I still be kinda confused. Did you have any emails from NVC after that "check list"?

Hmm, maybe it was just a coincidence that I got that email right after they got my package. I haven't heard anything else from NVC, not even an automated response to the message I sent through their online contact form.

Is there a way to find out your scan date, besides calling them?

- Which AOS form? Can we use I-864EZ even though 3 people are sponsored with I-130?
- How to get the cover letter with bar code? I have heard that we can pay the AOS fee, print the bar coded cover letter and send the AOS form in as soon as have Case Number and Invoice ID.
- When we can mail the AOS and IV? Do we have to wait for DS-260 is acknowledged by NVC?
- When can we the AOS and IV fee? Together or separate and which one is first
- Do we fill out form DS-260 3 times (once for my wife and 2 more for our step sons) or only for my wife?

Thank you

Most of this is easily and cleary answered if you

- Read the offical I-864 instructions

- Read the guide http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

- Use the search function

Please try putting some effort into this, then come back and ask questions after

That's great, I'm surprised they didn't make you go through administrative processing for that.

What do you mean by administrative processing?

HELLO!

can anyone help on what form of I-1864 to use for joint sponsorship?or will NVC provide I-1864 . .

thanks . .

NVC doesn't provide anything to you directly. You have to be very self-sufficient in this processes. It really all depends on your actions and searching for the information that's already out their.

The I-864 forms can be downloaded from the official NVC site: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Step_4_Collect_Financial_Documents.html Use the directions on that site for every step of the way. Also, as some have said, use the directions that have been provided at the beginning of this forum.

BUT as far as joint sponsorship goes....who are you using as your joint sponsor? I've recently found out these tips from experience:
1) A joint sponsor is ONLY considered as a joint sponsor if you do not live with them. In this case, both you and the joint sponsor will file an I-864.
2) If your joint sponsor lives with you, consider them as your "household member." You file an I-864, and the household member files an I-864A.

Hope that helps!
