We have done it again. We are almost dead last in healthcare in the 1st world, while having by a obscene margin the highest cost.  Our inner cities are crime infested cesspools. There is a good chance that many who have  paid many 10s of1000s into social security will never see a penny. We have never ending global military actions, that will never accomplish a warm cup of spit , other than dead young soldiers and billions of dollars. Regardless of how you view the solutions to these problems or who caused them, the are real problems.

However the whole nation is fully engaged, like nothing ever seen since World War 2, about the actions of some disconnected athletes,  that in 5 years none will remember and will have zero effect on the quality of life of one single person on this planet.

I have this mental picture of Pelosi and Ryan having a drink at some exclusive club ,  while raising a toast to the sheeple state.

USA!!

Snow on the hills around me this  morning.

Not just a disconnected athlete, but a hopeful Marxist athlete.

I am not sure if this will be a good outcome for the owners now that many of them have expressed their support for Kaepernick.  If the fans leave, the NFL will feel it.

Here is an interesting little message.  It seems the Jags and Ravens knelt for the US National Anthem, but stood for God Save The Queen.

Good to see that they did not try and diss Her Majesty.

The comments section there is hilarious.

I think it's one of the things about America that many people overseas find disturbing or amusing. The blind patriotism, the attitude that the USA can never do anything wrong and that anyone who doesn't feel the same is unAmerican. It's possible to love your country without blindly believing absolutely everything they do.

I go to the Army v. Navy rugby match every year with an old school friend. When they play God Save The Queen most of the 82,000 people in the stadium stand and sing, it truly sends shivers down my spine. My friend however, does not stand and sing. He's not anti-British but he doesn't believe in the monarchy.

I don't hold it against him, one of the joys of the civilised world is freedom of speech.

So I find it quite astonishing that America, the home of Freedom, kicks up such a stink about people exercising their Freedom of Speech.

August 2000: We start e-mailing. I'm in Bosnia, she's in Florida

October 29th 2000: She sends me e-mail asking if I would marry her

October 29th 2000(5 seconds later): I say yes

November 2000: She sends me tickets to Orlando for when I get back

December 6th 2000: Return from Bos

December 11th 2000: Fly to Orlando, she meets me at airport

December 22nd 2000: I fly back to UK

January 3rd 2001: She flies to UK (Good times)

Mid February 2001: Pregnancy test Positive

Mid February 2001: She flies back to US

March 2001: Miscarriage, I fly to US on first flight I can get

May 2001: I leave US before my 90 days are up

June 2001: I fly back to US, stopped at airport for questioning as I had only just left

September 2001: Pregnancy test Positive again

September 2001: She falls sick, I make decision to stay to look after her as I am afraid I may have problems getting back in.

April 16th 2002: Our son is born, we start getting stuff together for his passport

March 6th 2003: We leave US for UK as family

Early April 2003: Family troubles make her return to US, I ask Embassy in London about possibilities of returning to US

April 16th 2003: London Embassy informs me that I will be banned from the Visa Waiver Program for 10 years, my little boys first birthday

June 13th 2006: I-129f sent

August 11th 2006: NOA1 Recieved

After our relationship breaks down she admits to me that she had never bothered to start the application process

The Queen is awesome. I can't fault them for that.

I completely agree with you NB. I think people are caring way to much about the body position some people are taking during a particular song. It isn't even a very effective form of protest. "Oh no, they are kneeling!!! I'm ashamed!!!". Just ignore them.

Both sides of the argument here are going to far. They shouldnt' be bothering to protest in that way (because it is pointless), and no one should really care if they do or not. I'm not sure why Trump brought it up last week/this weekend. It may have been an effort to "turn attention" away from something else. Not sure.

I used to go to those, not standing is rude but no need to otherwise participate.

Maybe this is why (see below).  I realize that as far as "standing at attention" it uses the word "should", but it does use "must" when it talks about being on the field for the national anthem.  Will all the teams and players that decided to stay in the locker room be fined by the NFL?  I am still amazed that the NFL allows this to go on, but won't allow the Dallas Cowboys to honor five police officers gunned down by a BLM supporter.

Btw, you say the Queen is awesome, what about Charles?

Green Bay Packers star HaHa Clinton-Dix appeared to take a subtle shot at national anthem protesters after his Sunday game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The University of Alabama product posted the NFL rule about standing for the anthem on his public Facebook page.

He wrote the following:

The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the NFL League Rulebook. It states:

“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.

“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition…

…It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

I didn't know there was a rule. As you said it does say "should" so they would have to amend it to read must before they start demanding people stand. The rule uses both should and must in different places so it pretty clearly distinguishes between them.

You are right though, the team that stayed in their locker room (I forget which) this weekend could all technically be fined.

I just don't really understand why it has come up again this weekend. I mean I know why (Trump talked about it at a rally/speech, and then tweeted about it) but I don't really get why he is bring it up again. I think the best way to combat this form of protest is to just ignore it.

It is a rather passive form of protest, so just ignoring it basically negates its impact.

As for Charles...I will gladly stand and sing along to God Save the Queen. Not sure what I'll do when it reverts back to GStK...

Well, there are a lot of reasons this is ongoing.  Sure Trump made a comment at a campaign rally and tweet and everyone "Must" react to that!  There are a lot of people now claiming that this is now a First Amendment issue (raised by Trump) which it clearly isn't; who has suggested laws be passed by the State or Federal government?  Certainly not Trump.  There is a "sports" channel that feels the need to repeat the entire Kaepernick story almost daily, and lastly, I am not sure if the players and owners really understand that they are tacitly supporting a Marxist that really doesn't like the US and would rather tear up the constitution.

What is clear is that no matter what these folks do, the fans (not Trump, not the players, not the owners) will have the final say.

When the unfortunate but inevitable day comes when HMtQ is no longer with us I'll have no problem with King Charles III.

He'll probably be a rather inconsequential monarch who won't be noticed much by history.
