I think this might be a little bit complicated but I wanted to get advice out here and see what I should do.

I needed to file an extension for my taxes because I needed to settle a few things and they unfortunately would not be done until after tax day April 18. What I estimated on owing, I would need to do in payments. I qualify to make payments, so I figure its no problem. I just finish filing later and begin a payment plan with the IRS. So, I just filed my taxes and I was completely confused that it calculated significantly less. I'm filing with TurboTax, btw. Come to find out, As I go through the process and look at all my papers. I found payment vouchers for the IRS in it from months ago.

Ok, So I filed my taxes. Which says that I owe $52 (its wrong, but the IRS accepted it). The problem here is, my K-1 is getting approved shortly (Filed April 28) and I estimate that my fiancee would be getting her interview in November.

I know I'm going to need to call the IRS first thing monday morning. Can anyone give me advice on how to handle this? I don't want my fiancee to need to wait more time.

I think you are asking if you can use your current tax return for the interview?

Yes.  Just make a copy of the return and your W2's.  The embassy is interested in the income you claim for the year.

Yes, but I'm really concerned that the IRS accepted it. What exactly is the US consulate in Japan going to do with it? Just look and see if it adds up to my paystubs and W-2 forms?

Just bring a copy of the 2016 taxes and your w2's to the interview, along with all other documents they embassy requires.

I don't know what the embassy in Japan does with this.

Maybe go to the regional forum and ask there.
