I'm assuming you got an RFE and either didn't respond to it/respond to it in time and the N400 was denied due to that, so you filed the N-336?

By regulation, USCIS is supposed to schedule the N-336 review hearing within 180 days from the date of your appeal being accepted.

Does it mean he/she actually explains everything in the N-336 with the further information?

While the N-336 is so pricey, we were unable to file an appeal instead? (or it can't be done because it was his/her fault of failing to respond to the RFE.)

The N-336 is if you want to appeal based on USCIS's error in denying your case.  Not everyone is eligible to appeal using the N-336....if you fail the civics test twice, for example, and are denied citizenship because of that then an appeal probably won't help because the denial was appropriate.

There is a place on the N-336 application to explain why the applicant is requesting a hearing and should provide supporting documentation in regards to this.

If the OP was denied based on failing to respond to the RFE on time and can prove that the failure was out of their control (ie. delay in getting the appropriate document from whomever they had to  obtain it from (let's say the document asked for was a foreign birth certificate that takes a few months to get from the home country and USCIS requested the document within 60 days or else) then the OP *might* have a chance with an appeal if they can prove without a doubt that the delay was out of their control, and they had attempted to secure it within the specified time frame but was impossible---hard to prove that, though.

OP on your denial letter it would have stated your options for filing for a motion to reopen or reconsider your case.  Also see here (scroll down to the Notes section and read #6 and #7
