Hi All,

I've been lurking around here for awhile but now have questions that I've seen varying answers to on this site.

My Spanish fiancé and I met on OKCupid.  I got an RFE for my fiancé requesting we document his release of info to the site or proof that it's not an international marriage broker (IMB). Most people here say that it's not an IMB and I can include something about the terms of service, but nothing in the terms of service say it's not.

Also, some wrote that if you paid for services on the site, then it is. I had a paid subscription (as a woman it helps to prevent some harassment) though my fiancé had the free subscription and also contacted me first.

So my question is how do I prove that it's not an IMB? I contacted OkCUpid but their site says they can't guarantee a reply!

Help!

And thanks!

Ann

Me and my husband also met through OkCupid. Just go to Google and search for OkCupid's Terms & Conditions. That's where we got ours. OkCupid admins did not reply to us either when I emailed them before.

We submitted whatever we got from Google and our petition was completed in 4 months without any RFE. When you print it out, highlight the word FREE.

You should see that at the very first part of the T&C. It says registration is FREE. That's what they are looking for.

Good luck! :)

Yes, but I see a few places online saying it IS an international marriage broker. I guess I can just print the terms of service and write a statement saying we freely contacted each other?

If it is an international marriage broker, I wouldn't be here right now. :) I am already done with K1 and AOS. We did not have issues at all and our timeline was very smooth and quick. Only 4months for both our K1 and AOS process. I have 2 friends who met their husbands through okCupid as well. They are also done with everything. :)

I am 101% sure OKC is not an IMBR. Just go ahead and Google their T&C, Print it and you're good to go! ;)
