How to Speak to a Human at USCIS

I live in Hawaii and I found some mistakes recently on my receipt (I-797) and have been trying to reach the USCIS office in order to correct them. However, I dial 1800 375-5283 and can't reach a human, only bots. It keeps saying if i want to talk to someone I must call back during the hours of 8am to 6 pm, unfortunately, it doesn't matter what time I call as I have the same problem at any time of the day. I had no problems before calling them but lately I can't reach anyone there and it's getting me very frustrated. 

 

Is the phone number correct? I had no problems before reaching a human but I haven't been able to reach them for 2 weeks. The combination I normall use is 1-2-1. I even tried all types of combinations to get A human being  on the phone. Nothing works, please help. Thank you for any help

Hi! The number is correct what i usually do is after asking me for the language i start presing the number 22222 many times and they will conext you with a representative, I hope this is useful for ya!

Yes that is the correct number.

However, as I discovered myself recently, it doesn't matter what time zone you are in - it is what phone number you are calling from.

Dial from a 213 (los angeles) cell phone number number at 8am from the east coast and it won't let you through to a person until 8am PST. Call from a 212 (new york) number at 8am on the east coast and it will work.

 

The correct combination is:

1, 2, 1, *receipt#*, 1.

It will then read out the current case status.

After (or during, if you are anything like me and are sick of hearing it) it has recited the no doubt out of date current case status, then hit 3 to speak to a human.

I used this exact combination earlier today, so it is still current.

 

 

If you can't get through at all with that combination, there must be something else going on.

Waiting until 8am California time worked. Unfortunately, they don't call back international phone numbers so we will try a three way call with my mother in law tomorrow to speak to an officer.

Have called twice within the past week and yes, it worked! It is true, apparently they go by the time zone according to your phone number.
