N-400 Receipt/Application # invalid

Whenever I enter the receipt # for my N-400 application which I got from both electronic and mailed-in notices on the myUSCIS page, an error message pops up saying, "You are attempting to add a receipt number that does not exist in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again." 

 

I've been trying to add it since 09/08 when I first got the receipt # via email and text but no success up to now. Is this something I should be concerned about or is it just a website glitch?

Yeah, I added the asterisk as well but still says the same thing. I also called USCIS and entered my case # and got the same "invalid" message.

Thanks for your suggestion. I called USCIS today and was able to talk to an actual person. She said that nothing is wrong with my application because I received the actual NOA with a case number. According to her, new cases take about 30-45 days before you can track the status online which I found strange because my roommate and I mailed our N-400 applications to Phoenix Lockbox on the same day. Both applications were received on 09/08 and we both got the mailed-in NOA on 09/15 but he can access his case on the myUSCIS page without any problems.

 

If I schedule an InfoPass appointment now, I'm afraid they might tell me the same thing and that would just be a waste of time and money. Or do you think otherwise and schedule one now?

The automated service is perk USCIS offers. They make no guarantees that it works. You spoke to someone that said your case is fine. Infopass can not help you get the automated systems to work.

Yeah, she said it was fine but the funny thing is she couldn't pull up my case either when I gave her my receipt # (sorry, I forgot to mention this earlier). That's when she started with her spiel about 30-45 days wait time before case status can be tracked online. I think I'll just have to wait and see if something will happen between now and day 45. If not, then I'll schedule an infopass appointment.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
