I am here on a F1 visa, and I have one year left before I graduate.  Since being here I have got engaged and was wondering if we got married and applied for change of status to start the residency process, am I able to still continue with school (as I have heard you can't) or should we wait until after I graduate next year? If we did start the process am I able to then legally work or am I still unable to do that until I have residency? Thanks

Yes you are still valid on your f1 and can stay in school and do opt

But you should get married and apply AOS because then you will get your green card:)

Follow the guides! But since you are still within your f1 status u won't have a problem! It's better to apply for your green card early too so u won't be out of status.
