What happens after i130 Is approved ?

Hi there

 

My husband is a us citizen and I am a Canadian citizen. We applied for the i130 in mid January but havnt heard back yet.  I have been reading some threads saying it's much longer now ( 8-10) months. Is this true? 

 

What's next after the i 130? And how long would the wait be? 

 

The waiting game is really difficult for us, so I'm just here seeking some answers.

Hi Curio, I'm a US citizen petitioning my Husband who is from Mexico, we applied early Dec 2016, documents were received  Dec 8th.  we got a receipt a couple weeks later, so far he has not been approved yet, and this week will be 9 months. We are so anxious .

You are going to need to give us some more information if you want some help with understanding how much longer it might be. One key piece of information is the service center that your case was sent to. Nebraska has been very slow lately, so if your case is there is may be a few more months before they get to it.

 

As far as what comes next and how long it takes after the I-130 is approved, have you read the guides yet? 

 

 

After you have read the guides then we can help answer specific questions that you might have, but the guides exist for a reason, that way we don't constantly have to be repeating the same information over and over and over again.

you should have ur NOA2 by now it think is better to call NVC cuz is way to long should it be 9 months for spouse

Nebraska in particular has been very slow lately. In reality this is not necessarily unusual right now, depending on the service center. Therefore we new more information first before being able to say if this is truely abnormal or not.

Why would they call NVC if they haven't even received NOA2?

NVC will have no clue of their case.

Even when someone receives NOA2 NVC still doesn't know about it until they receive it.

My husband and I are married, long story short I had to come back to Canada and we got an immigrations lawyer. He  filed the i130 and the visa concurrently to the Nebraska location in January and we received a notice indicating they received our case for i130 not long after.

 

We haven't heard much since except the lawyer saying "we are right on tack " but still no info other than that.

It sounds like you don't know much about the process, and hence thats why used a lawyer.

They're still on December currently

If you fill out the details in your timeline, if you know them, it'll give you a general timeline of when it might be completed

wow!  we are on the same boat! i am petioning my husband as well and he is from  Mexico too.  my pd is December 14/2016 and is in the Nebraska Service Center and still no luck!!!

I'm also Mexico, pd is December 13th and I was approved August 21st

Yes i did see it.. it looks like they paused for a few days probably with the hurricane Harvey then Memorial day i haven't seen no approves lately..

Nebraska is not affected by the hurricane at all.

 

You can try downloading the USCIS app, in the nearby section enter your LIN number and see if there are others with the same date still awaiting approval.

yes i did try this already and 2 after me got approved already hopefully this wk..
