This morning's China Daily front page is all about Xi and BRICS. The DPRK is kept to the back page.

Strains in the US-ROK have been cyclical over the years depending on who is leading each country.  The ROK just went through its own major political shakeup and currently a left of center party is leading the country, but I doubt the DPRK cares.  From what I can gather from various NK discussion sites, the NK dynasty is worried about one thing and that is maintaining their power through whatever means regardless of how the people are hurt.  They are continuously cracking down on outside information, but some of it is getting through, and one wonders how the overall power structure in the DPRK thinks about their leader.  I admit that many in the ROK do not have a great view of Trump, but if push comes to shove, they will certainly accept the assistance of the US regardless of who the president is.

I see the ROK is "temporarily" deploying the last four THAAD launchers after an "environmental" study.  I wonder how temporary they really are?  I don't really think their decision to do this had any relationship to funneling more money to the US military industrial corporations.  I think security does come into play just a little.  Just as a matter of information, the major road routes from the border into the ROK are riddled with barrier constructions that can be deployed at a moments notice to at least slow down any DPRK mechanized units.  I have personally been over a couple of bridges North of Seoul that are rigged with explosives if needed for demolition.
