AP - Administrative Processing for B1 in Vancouver (merged)

Does anyone know how long AP for B1 Visa takes in Vancouver for a Permanent Resident of Canada who has traveled to the US 2 times before?

Usually days, sometimes weeks, rarely months, and very rarely years. There's no way to know for sure which one it will be ahead of time. Was a particular reason for AP stated at the interview?

CO asked me to answer questionnaire through email and send them my resume, took my passport. I guess because of my background in chemistry.

It's possible...nobody can say for sure what triggers the additional checks. Work experience in STEM fields is one potential factor. The fact that they took your passport is a good sign. Hopefully it's only days or weeks!

Iranian and Canadian PR, but I work at an international company, our headquarter and training center located in the US, i was there in July with my previous B1.

Yeah, Iranian with a chem background is probably it. Again, nobody can say for sure, but that's the most likely culprit.

From my observations prior Visa's do not seem to make much difference to the process, well I would anticpate you will get it, but that time line will be similar.

I have 3 training seasons, I passed 1st one and have to attend 2nd next week!
Iranian nationality is eligible only for single entry, because of that I must get visa for every travel!

I think that is a reciprocal thing, but with long AP obviously complicates matters.

I *think* all visas go through AP. B2 certainly do. Generally speaking, the length of AP is something very individual. Some people go through brief AP while others experience much longer AP due to thorough background checks.

My status has been updated on Jan 25th by "Refused" on the website but I have not received any email and my passport yet. Any advice?

Here is my timeline:

B1 training in our company headquarter and training center 

Consulate: Vancouver

Interview: Aug 23th 2017

AP

Updated: Jan 25th 2017 "Refused"

i assume they will automatically send your Passport back, or should, no harm to remind them to do so.
