Will couple be approved independently for Citizen ?

just curious, if couple both apply for N400 at the same time , will their approval be independent to each other ?  i mean, possibly, can one person be approved earlier than the other ?

the background check is variable in each applicant. Will one partner's background check affect the othere's processing and approval ?

Every N400 application is unique, and it is not related to each other.

It is possible that you will be approved ealier than your partner. The reason is kept as a discretion of USCIS. No one knows why.

If one spouse completes and/or clears the background check, it doesn't have any effect on the other spouse's completing and/or clearing their own background check ( in other words, it doesn't make the process any quicker for the other spouse or guarantee the other spouse will clear it).

thank you all guys.

the reason i raised up this question is simply because, back five years ago  my I-485 process was taking 1 year to approve. I didnt know why it took so much longer than expected. it might be because of my home country. or it was just because the case load at Minnesota field office. this brings me concern if this will occur again during in our N400.

This is also why i wanted to know will the N400 background check be the same as AOS(I-485).
