Interview, and leaving the US

My spouce has his interview in ciudad Juarez. We live in Houston and are heading over to Mexico. We know the most direct rout is I-10, but I don't know if there are any check points. If we are leaving the U.S. would it even be an issue? We have proof of his apointment, would that help?  Or should we just avoid roads that close to the border?

When is his interview? I've read here on the forums of people who drive to Juarez from other states without any issues. I would think that due the crises that is occurring in Houston, I would not see any check points being setup.

They announced that even with All the Harvey mess they would not be closing checkpoints.

His interview is on the 5th but he has finger printing this Saturday. 

Part of me feels like there has to be away to get to Juárez with out any issues since Its some thing they are requiering us to do. 

But im just trying to make sure ee wont have issues since he is still technically illigal.

There should not be any issues as long you have the documentation with you to prove you are going for the interview. So good luck.

I have lived in many cities close to the border in CA and AZ and driven from and to the U.S. many times. In my experience the check points are located on the side of the road where you are traveling from Mexico to the U.S. and never the opposite way. Since you are traveling to Mexico, you should be fine and won't be stopped by border patrol.

 

On your way back, your husband will have his I-550 stamp on his passport to prove he is legally in the U.S.

 

Best of luck during your trip to Cd. Juarez and his interview.

I hope somebody who has driven from Houston to El paso can give a detailed information, meanwhile you can check this map that I have seen before.

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

I drove from Austin to El Paso. Only checkpoint is on I-10 east bound at about Sierra Blanca. Road is mostly lonely, you see more border patrol when you get nearer to El Paso. Worst case scenario, take show the letter with the appointment. Take the Zaragoza bridge, takes you right to the consulate area.

Also interested in an update, and a report on any interactions at the checkpoints.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We managed to get to Mexico with no issue. He had his interview  Tuesday and it all whent well, he was approved! Now we are just waiting around for is DHL delivery.

Congrats! How did the interview go? We have the medical tomorrow. Did they ask for police report?
