Interview this morning

Hi all! We had the interview this morning at 6:40am in USEM. I was with my fiancee from the moment we entered the door of the embassy until the interview with the american consul. Right after the interview, we were told that our visa is "recommended for approval" then stamped it with something I did not see. Hopefully it says approved. They never gave back my fiancee's passport. Does "recommended for approval" mean anything aside from the obvious? He did not say that the visa was approved though. He could've said something like congratulations your visa is approved. I dont know if I'm overthinking.

Also. He did not ask for my income tax, pay stubs, bank balance. Nothing financial related. So this got me worried. He did not even ask me what I do at work or how much I earn.

He just asked for our pictures which we have plenty of. About 50 4x6 photos. He looked at a few and gave it back to us. He was also smiling while asking my fiancee how I proposed.

Right now the status of our application is "adminstrative processing". So anxious right now. We're not sure if we did it right. Anyone on the same boat?

Usually if they keep the passport that's a good sign. The Philippines typically doesn't ask lots of questions. My fiance was asked 3 questions and they didn't even look at any of the paperwork I had sent her.

All visas go through administrative processing, so sounds like you should be ok. Just wait and try to be patient

Guess WHAT! Everyone is in that boat once they complete the interview and the CO "recommends for approval". That is a shorten version of "you are approved". Reasoning is that the visa is not approved and final till your record goes to issue. There is still a total review and signoff before it goes to "issued". One to two weeks and you should have your visa. Be patient.  But don't buy flight tickets yet. There has been cases where someone was delayed 1, 2  weeks or even 6 months and had purchased tickets and they had to change them. The cost..... as much as a new ticket. Congratulations and safe travels.

The CO saying "approved" does happen, but APPROVAL doesn't happen until later.. once you see ISSUED on the CEAC website then you know the visa is approved.   Everyone goes through AP, some for a few hours some for much, much longer.

It appears that you should be out partying just the same... ;)

Not surprised on the CO not asking for your support evidence the embassy backed off on the support evidence (for K-1) back in 2014, they changed the wording in the instructions letter from should to may even..  meaning not required, but could be asked for.

All you can do is wait.  Yes everyone goes through AP until visa is issued.  AP - ready - AP - Issued is the status update chain you will see.  Patience is needed.

USEM COs don't usually ask for the I-134 or supporting documents. My fiancee wasn't asked either. They can, and you should have them in case they do, but they usually don't ask for it.

The visa isn't actually final until CEAC shows ISSUED. You will just go through AP before that. It's perfectly normally. Congrats!

Hi all thank you for your comments and congratulations. I checked our status this morning and it was still AP. However, I checked again about 1pm PH time and the status changed to ISSUED. What's the timeframe between the "issued" status until visa delivery? We chose SM Moa 2go delivery.

We also chose SM MOA 2go for delivery. Our ISSUED status showed up on Wednesday August 16th. We are still waiting. Today is technically the 4th business day since ISSUED. I will let you know when we receive a message from 2go.

The embassy states that picking up your visa at MOA is about 2 days quicker than delivery (metro).   After ISSUED status the visa will now be printed and affixed in your passport, your case file will be bundled up then all of this will be ready for 2GO to pickup for deliver.  5-10 days on average.

Very soon!!!

Congrats to you both!!!

I had seen that you posted this on an older VJ page. 2GO still shows "invalid". What's interesting is that when I checked the CEAC tracker about 2 hours ago regarding my stepdaughter's visa, it went from "ISSUED" to "READY". But under the word "ready" it says "ready for your interview". My wife's still shows "issued".

Ignore your stepdaughter's visa status as that is "normal". It will return back to "Issued" soon. No worry.s

2Go

MNL # is one of the numbers to try with 2GO for tracking, along with the UID and passport number, never know which one will work with 2GO

Re: 2Go (since i worked there way way back) :)

If still no status in their web tracking, try calling the hotline. Sometimes, updating one transaction may take longer since they need the actual pouch or the CN # to scan it to their system.  If i am not mistaken this is their number - (+63 2) 77-99-222.

If still no update, drop by to 2go MOA and check :)

Lastly, just wait for it and spend time with your family.
