Expedite EAD card process due to job offer - PLEASE HELP!

Good morning everyone!

I am currently in the process for my EAD card to be approved (filed mid-June, according to this side should be done by October) and received a job offer last Friday.

I know that I can request to expedite my EAD card approval with the job offer and was wondering, if someone who did the same could tell me, if USCIS will give my future employer a call or contact them at all?

I explained them my situation and told them that I would send USCIS the job offer as proof but I would like to give them a heads up if USCIS will contact them.

So any help would be really appreciated!

Thank you in advance! :)

Hannah

USCIS won't contact the employer :)

All USCIS will ask for (after you have initiated the expedite process) is for you to fax the letter of offer (on company letterhead, and signed by the company).

So all you need to do, is call USCIS and give them your case number, ask to expedite the process based on financial hardship and mention you have an active job offer. They will say it takes 5 days to action and you'll get an email. (My email never arrived, so if you don't get it, call back in 5 days and get the reference numbers you'll need, lol)

Then you fax back a copy of their correspondence and the job offer. No contact with employer.

They usually update case within a week at that point and issue the EAD

Thanks so much for your answer!!! :)

They sent me the job offer as an attachment in an e-mail, it has the company letterhead but no signature - since sent by email. I hope it still works though! :)

Thanks again!

Hi Karlzy,

You mention here - and I've seen elsewhere - that they'll expedite the EAD with a job offer based on 'financial hardship.' Did you have to submit any 'proof' of such hardship? It's not something I can claim and USCIS have all my husband's tax returns/salary info so any claim to financial hardship would be easily refuted. I'm just desperate to start work asap!

Thanks!

@Rose_3001   Hiya Rose - Nope, no proof of "hardship" is required, that's just the category it falls under.

The only evidence they ask for, is the Letter of Offer, on company header / with signature etc.

I know you how feel! The sitting around, waaaaaaiting, is very frustrating. lol

So i you've got an offer on the table, just get the official offer letter and that's all you need! :)

Hi Karlzy,

Thanks for the reply - this is good to know! Did you do this after reaching the 90 day mark, or before? Were there any other steps you took before faxing over the job offer letter? I don't even think I've used a fax machine before, who knew USCIS were so oldschool...

You also say to fax over a  'copy of their correspondence' with the job offer letter - do you mean copies of the NOAs or something else?

Thanks a lot!

@Rose_3001 - When you request to expedite, it gets assigned to an officer to get back to you within 5 days.

They apparently send you an email, stating where to fax and which "team" to address it to. (Mine never made it to me, lol)

So they'll want a copy of the email they sent (It contains the Team Name / Number and Fax number etc) , and a copy of your offer letter.

I submit my expedite before the 90 day period.

Hope that helps :)

Many thanks for your help! Hopefully, I won't now need to go down this route -  on day 86, at the end of last week, I finally got an email saying my EAD/AP applications were approved. Just got to wait for the card to arrive - hope that won't take too long!

Hey @Karlzy,

So when you called USCIS to request to expedite you talked to a tier level 1 to whom you only said "I want to expedite my EAD under the financial hardship category and the reason is because I got a job offer"?

I will be getting a job offer soon and Im trying to figure out how to "Sell" my reason to USCIS... ;)

@logisticamente

There really isn't much "sell" to the Tier 1 reps lol.

When you call, just give them your case number for the EAD and say you'd like to apply for expedite based on financial hardship and an active job offer that will allow you to alleviate the pressure.

They'll submit the request to the appropriate team, and they say they'll contact you in 5 days. Only thing, is they sent an email and it often never arrives.

So if you haven't heard after 5 days, call back. lol. I could have had mine done sooner if I called earlier to check!

You don't need any proof of hardship. You will just fax back the email they send you (if you get it, if not., the Tier 1 will give you the details to write in a cover letter), and your signed job offer on company letterhead.

That's it. I think once I faxed back my docs, it took less than a week to update to card being produced.
