Last week, I had to the send the 221g document of my i20 form of my school, which I forgot to bring to the embassy. They recieved the 221g documents at August 15th and I still haven't recieved my issued passport. Right now it still in the embassy where it is processing. I will be leaving for the States at the 26th and I need my passport with the visa asap. Why is it taking so long and what should I do to now? I need them to quicken the processing and I need to recieve my passport now.

Taking so long???  It's been two working days since they received a required document that you forgot to take with you. Some of the security checks will need to be re-done, the visa then needs to be printed and put in the passport,  the passport processed for delivery, etc.  All this while also working on a full slate of new cases each day.  Just the delivery of the passport with a Visa in it usually takes a couple of days. And, nobody knows if there will be any necessary additional administrative processing.

There is little chance there is anything they could expedite and unlikely they would do so, since the delay is a result of you not bringing the I-20.  Plus, your urgency is caused by you making travel plans before the visa was in your hands.

Have a little patience!

That plan makes no sense.  "Another type of visa" would not permit you to go to the US to study.  Plus, you would be starting all over agaIn, with no guarantee on time or even that another visa would be approved.  It would make you appear desperate to get into the US understand any circumstance.

You're just going to have to wait this one out. No amount of begging and pleading will speed up the process and certainly not applying for another visa which will actually make things worse for you because it shows desperation and will make the State Department suspicious of your actions. Best you can do is try to get a refund for your ticket and not make any travel plans until you have the visa in hand.
