Where to find the Alien Registration # ?

Hello all,

My wife's CR1 visa was just approved today at the Rio de Janeiro Consulate.  I know that I need to pay the Immigrant Filing fee (to get her green card) on the USCIS website but it requires an A#.  Does anyone know where I can obtain this?  Everything I have looked up says that it is on the Green card itself.  Will her CR1 visa have her A# on it?

Also, is the green card only shipped out once the immigrant crosses the border?  Or is it shipped out immediately after payment?

The Green Card will not be sent until after after both the entry and the payment are complete regardless of the order in which they are completed.

 

As I remember, my wife's A number was on a sheet she received with her document package from the consulate along with her passport.

As I recall, my wife received a sheet along with her passport and document package.  The A number was annotated on the immigrant sheet.

If it helps, the alien number is three sets of three numbers, or a single block of nine numbers, depending on how it's presented.

 

So for example, 123-456-789, or 123456789.

It is also the registration number on the visa

Thanks for your response. As of now I haven't seen anything like that. I remember on my notice of action letters also the alien registration number was blank.

and on my wife's visa, it an 8 digit number........on her Green Card, it has a leading zero, resulting in a XXX-XXX-XXX format
