I'm happy for you, I maintain a bank account in the UK too :) .

There's a difference between yourself as a K-1 visa holder, and the OP who is applying for a tourist visa.

Your present account in the UK isn't going to make a difference to the USA right now because you have an immigration visa application pending, and the US doesn't care about you establishing residency elsewhere.

Her present account in the UK will make a difference to the USA right now when applying for just a tourist visa, since the US cares about her showing she has established residency elsewhere.

I have been in the US 13 years.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Well, I was going off your profile status on the left there listing your K-1 filing.  My future-telling skills are a bit rusty ;)

I'm assuming you're Naturalized then?  Congrats!

Still stands to reason that the OP applying for a tourist visa from the UK as a Nigerian national is going to be in a better situation all-around if she walks into the Consulate with some documentation, rather than with just her hands swingin', as they say.

By all means take what you have, might be asked for but probably not. Not as if she has much to take.

I was more addressing the relevancy of an active UK account.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I reckoned most of the time, it is the passport that makes all the difference. but if you have enough $ in the bank, you will get a tourist visa.

TO, is this your first semester? Just an idea but if you have finished previous semesters you might want to bring results with you. Maybe that will help in showing your ties with the UK.

Are you renting a place? Bring the contract with you.

Yeah I just emailed them for my transcript and I asked for a more detailed reference stating that I'll be returning back to uni at the start of the new academic year which is September!

I'm using my uncles statement of account, he also happens to be my sponsor here in London and I also live with him.

so I guess there won't be any complication with that.

Hi I finally applied today and I've got my appointment on the 9th of August and my scheduled flight and hotel reservations are on the 12th of August.

i feel like I've made one hell of a mistake now but I was acting under the influence of my friend who's from Saudi but here in the U.K., he told me he got his visa within two days of application and it was simple.

do you think I should go through with the application or cancel it?

Most unlikely if you get one you will get your passport back in time, hopefully the booking are refundable.

Haha nah thanks. I called them as soon as I made that comment and it got moved for me to the 3rd of August! Thanks goodness!

one more question? If I present my uncles statement of account and utility bills just to show that he's my sole sponsor in the U.K. but said that my boyfriend is the one paying for this trip, will that be a problem?

Cause i stated on my application form that my boyfriend is the one paying for the trip. but I wouldn't wanna ask him to give me his statement of account cause I feel like that would be awkward me asking for his details.

Do not think it matters whose financials you take.

Why would you book flight and hotel before getting the visa?

Your financial situation is a big red flag, after seeing you cannot support yourself in the UK, cannot support yourself in the USA, I can't imagine the CO granting you the visa.

I didn't book the hotel and flight, boyfriend did. He suggested that would be a big evidence that we will only be staying for a week and coming back.

And I am only 20 and an international student, I don't see how me not supporting myself strikes me off totally?

Also I do have a part time job but it's unlikely that would be considered seeing that I only make a minimum wage under a strict supervised number of hours per week.

So hence why my uncle's proof of funds have to come in here.

And my boyfriend is the one solely responsible for me on this trip, I'm guessing by the words of the other comments above, this won't be against me?
