In all fairness...he may not have thought that far ahead since he's not even going to apply to a new school until next Spring as he says.

It's hard to know what exact specialty you want to get into until you're actually studying at the school and learn what all of your options are in the field itself.

You could try applying to schools in Canada or Australia too. Those come to mind because they have good schools and they speak English. Plus, their tuitions are lower and you might have a better chance at a visa.

In Canada it would also be difficult for him to get approved for a visa because of the shared information between both immigration agencies.  Canada would be informed he's already been denied twice by the USA, and then scrutinize him even further.

Think of your wife too, left in Nigeria while you'd be away studying for years.  

You said she'd been denied a tourist visa as well which means she couldn't even visit you  .

 

It's a shame there are no good schools in Nigeria for nursing at all.

I would also concur. OP could also try India or South Africa.  Big bang for your bucks in engineering or nursing.

 

 

One thing we have learned today : there isn't a single decent nursing programme in Nigeria.
