Personally, I would think maybe my wife's proficiency in English was a problem but like the other guy advised, Do you think applying to Canada for a nursing program would be better? Do both countries share the same records?

Yes, Canada and the USA share immigration information, as well as police record/FBI information.  It's just as difficult to immigrate to Canada as it is the USA.  Plus COs in Canada are aware that they are normally "the second choice" when an applicant cannot prove their case to immigrate to the USA, which is why they scrutinize previously US-denied applicants more closely.

 

What's wrong with the nursing programs in Nigeria?

They share visa info.

 

So you would let go your nursing career for the sake of a visa? Doesn't sound too smart for me (both career decision and for visa purposes)

It's a good thing that your education/work background is in engineering then---gives you something to fall back on if you cannot find a good nursing program

I read back the other guy's advice---he said to apply for a nursing program in your country would be better...not Canada.

 

(just wanted to clarify since I think you read his advice incorrectly).

OK.  Your statement tells me you are trying to commit fraud.  THERE IS NO CAREER ADVANCEMENT DURING SCHOOL.......

It sounds like you really are trying to get to the US via a student visa, start a Nursing career, then Adjust status....That is strictly fraud !

Your wife's proficiency in English would have nothing to do with you getting denied.  Your written English seems perfectly fine.

Plus they don't deny tourist visas based on one's English-speaking skills.  If that were the case, then the USA would never have tourists coming from countries other than English-proficient ones.

 

The denial letter you would have received would have given the exact reason why you were denied.

If you are applying for a F1 student visa, you would be returning to Nigeria to live and work in after your schooling is done.

That is not the purpose of the visa. The F1 visa is to allow people to come to the US and study to advance their careers in their own home country. Sure, you can, if you're lucky get a job in the US. But the basic idea is for you to return. That is why you have to prove ties to your own country, and prove that you will actually return once you're done.

Agree.  My point was that I strongly suspect he/she intends to adjust after entering US on a non immigrant visa...
