Can't sign in to complete DS-260

Hello all. I am a US citizen petitioning my wife for a CR-1 in Mexico. We both currently live in Mexico so we were able to file using DCF. I recently received the letter from the embassy with our case number, invoice number, and instructions to complete the DS-260 at https://ceac.state.gov/IV . I am able to complete step 1 using our case number. Step 2 asks for her birthday (note: this is a set of three drop downs with predefined values, not an open text field) and whether I am the applicant/petitioner/etc. After submitting the form I get this message: "The selected Case Number and Date of Birth combination you entered does not match our records. Please try again or contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your case is being processed."

 

I've tried calling the embassy, but they were unable to help. They actually directed me to the National Visa Center which seemed odd as we were DCF. The guy at the NVC was very irate that I had called and directed me back to the embassy in Juarez. I called again today but the best they could do was direct to call back in a few days.

 

Has anyone run into similar issues? Is there a better number that I can call? Is my case number correct (format is CDJ2017XXX00X)? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

In case others ever stumble onto this thread looking for a solution, I was finally able to get it fixed. It turns out that someone at the embassy had keyed in the applicant's birthday incorrectly (off by two months). Everyone I talked to on the phone agreed that this was the most likely scenario, but no one could offer a solution. I finally found this form https://mx.usembassy.gov/public-inquiry-form-immigrant-visas-residents/ and while it says to expect a response in 20-30 days, they actually replied in only a few hours.

 

I still need to figure out who to call to get the birthdate fixed, but I can now at least login and see the DS-260.

I mentioned this above but it turned out that someone at the embassy made a mistake when entering in the birthdate. I was able to get the incorrect birthdate and login with that. I called the embassy and they said I could get this fixed by notifying the officer during the interview.

Just wanted to give a final update in case anyone in the future stumbles upon this thread: We had the interview today and during the initial processing the officer herself noticed different birthdays on her computer and on my wife's passport. She said not to worry and that she would fix it, which she did right then and there.
