Hi, all. So I just received a text and email notification from USCIS last night ( 07-16-2017 ) that they accepted my i-485 application. It says on the email and the case status check on their website that they transferred it to National Benefits Center. What does that mean? Do they normally do this? When can I expect to hear from them? I want to hear some answers from personal experience and to those who has great ideas about it. Thank you.

07-05-2017 : Sent the I-485 package

07-08-2017 : Delivered

07-12-2017 : USCIS accepted

07-16-2017 : Just received text/email notification

Did you read around at all? If you did you would know that this is entirely normal. NBC functions in essence as a triage for your packet, getting it ready for the local office. They will also handle EAD and AP applications if you included them. The next step will be your biometrics appt. which will be done at your local office. From there your I485 is processed by your local office and times vary wildly (from less than 6 months to over a year) depending on which local office you have and how busy they are right now. There are also things like interview waivers and background checks which can shorten or lengthen the time. It's a highly variable process from here on out.

Yes, I did. Apparently I'm reading too much. I thought they will send it to CSC or my local field office after filing in Chicago. But thanks for clearing that out.
