Hi Guys,

Do you know if one has to wait until I-130 is approve, and case is received by NVC before getting a Police Clearance Certificate from the local passport office?

If no, do you know what the expiration period is for this certificate? And do you have to have the name  change done in the passport prior to applying for PCC?

Thanks!

Like I said just go to the PSK and ask if you have to get a new passport or not. If you do then get started on that. If not then getting just the PCC doesn't take that long so you will be fine getting it when you get the notice that your case is being transferred to NVC. Also a name change is not required on the passport. In India they just want you have to have your spouses name on the passport once you are married.

Police clearance certificate along with passport making takes a whole day. But if you want only the PCC, you can get it in the lesser time. You can apply for this certificate at Police Station as well. Online application facility is also there. For more information, click this link:…..

No, did not add spouse information to the passport yet as it is optional. There is a no rule where you require to do that in India.
