At least we should send 3 months Pay stubs  to NVC right

As long as ur taxes show a good annual salary in sure 1-3 months worth of pay stubs should be fine.

Some info on Birth certificates - if it can help anybody by @NihalV & @mcgg

2 hours ago, NihalV said:

Hi All,

My original birth certificate is gujarati language and name in Birth Certificate (NIHAR) is different from Passport (NIHAL), my all document have same name as passport apart from Birth Certificate.

I checked on NVC website and it said that you can submit the Matriculation certificate (issues by school board with birth date) so I was planing to submit it.(https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/IN.html

But when I called NVC and confirm they said I have to submit the Birth certificate.   so Now I see submitting only Matriculation certificate increases chance of getting REF.

So I am thinking to submit below documents. Please review and let me know if this can be better.

Translate original BC to English - get it notarized - Attach Gazette Copy
1.1  - original BC in Gujarati
1.2 - English translation with Notarized.
1.3 - Cover letter explaining name change proof registered in Gazette copy issue by Government of Gujarat.
1.4 - copy of Gazette from Government of Gujarat. which have entry of name change.
1.5 ( Optional ) - Certificate of the birth issued by Government School Board ( Matriculation certificate )

I suggest you include them all.

  1. I had read an experience by an Indian VJer ( can't find it now) that he too received a checklist for Birth Certificate. He did not have his, and hence only submitted his matriculation record. NVC came back - he was then asked to submit a record from the authorities that his Birth Certificate was not available. In your case only submitting the matriculation record MIGHT end up in the same problem.
  2. If you submit the Matriculation record as well, the NVC would understand that the name change is not recent and the record is genuine. I am sure you are having all your records translated in English (as you already suggested). Good Luck.

So @chamma you agree what I am planning will be sufficient. ?

Translate original BC to English - get it notarized - Attach Gazette Copy

  • 1.1  - original BC in Gujarati
  • 1.2 - English translation with Notarized.
  • 1.3 - Cover letter explaining name change proof registered in Gazette copy issue by Government of Gujarat.
  • 1.4 - copy of Gazette from Government of Gujarat. which have entry of name change.
  • 1.5 ( Optional ) - Certificate of the birth issued by Government School Board ( Matriculation certificate )

Along with the list you mentioned affidavit from both parents affirming name change from what is mentioned in your birth certificate to your current name might be helpful. During my embassy interview the official reviewing my documents did not bother much with my School Certificate. Instead he considered Non-Availability and affidavits from my parents. I got separate affidavits from my Mom and Dad.

I got a few of my documents translated from Hindi to English and followed the NVC guidelines for translation. I got the translations notarized alongwith an affidavit from the translator asserting his capability to understand and translate from Hindi to English.

That is how I went about it since I feel that extra work does no harm.

Good luck to you.

So just wanted to kind of tell our experience. My file was at NVC when I requested expedite for medical reasons, I provided my doctors note and explained my situation in the email I sent to NVCExpedite. Within two days I received an answer- my request was approved. my file reached there within a week and I made an appointment for biometrics and interview. I did not wait for the embassy to reach out, I attempted to call them but they were no help!! My husband had to do his fingerprints on Friday and interview was Monday morning. Biometrics took about 15 minutes. On the day of the interview he was there around 7:30, there was a line already formed, they let them enter around 8:15Am. My husband said the total time of the actual interview was about 10 mins. It was a lady questioning him- she was pleasant. She asked my husband about who was calling him, questions about my employment, where did we meet, she looked at pictures. She asked how we communicate and my husband said via FaceTime, whatsapp, fb, telephone calls. She asked for proof but my husband said sorry I didn't bring it but if u let me bring my phone I can show you. She said no that is fine. At the end of the interview she told my husband that she is issuing a 221g for not having the right PCC. She told him everything else is fine, that he doesn't not have to return for another interview. Told him to get the pcc and drop it off with the passport at the dropboxes. My husband said the interview was really easy, just make sure you have the right PCC!!! We have mailed in the right pcc and passport yesterday and we should be hearing an answer soon :)

Hey did your husband bring all your financial docs that you had already sent to NVC to the interview?

Yes, you have to take in all original documents. He took every document that I sent to nvc, we are only supposed to send copies to nvc and originals to the embassy.

I thought he has to take originals of all his civil documents (Birth certificate, marriage certificate, PCC etc) But as far as my financial docs such as tax transcripts ant W2's I can send copies to him take along. Any thoughts @PP_2016 and @chamma?
