Filing N400 online, anyone?

online filing status "interview scheduled" just means "in line for interview", it could be months before they actually scheduled your interview and mail you the notice.

when your online status changes to "USCIS has scheduled your appointment read the letter we mailed" then you should expect the paper letter to arrive in the mail and the PDF to be posted.

My wife just completed her biometrics appointment today and it says "Interview Scheduled" online. Now we wait. From the looks of this thread it looks like it usually takes a few months to get one scheduled.

Sometimes it can take a few months, sometimes a few days.  Depends on the caseload of your field office,  mostly.  For me it took roughly a week.

It only seems logical that if you are within the filing window, you can then go ahead and apply online, however, with USCIS, you can never really know!

Hi @Nikkosan, how are you? It's been a while. I suddenly remember your request to keep you updated about my status. 

 

So I filed online July 26, got my NOA the same day. July 28, my biometrics was scheduled. I got the pdf posted online 4-5 days after. August 15 : biometrics done. August 19 : move to inline status. Sep 20: my interview is scheduled. The interview pdf was posted online yesterday (9/22). Interview date: 10/25.

 

So far it has been moving along. I am still pinching myself.

That's wonderful, I can only imagine how you feel!

 

I have yet to apply for citizenship. 38 days and 22 hours at the moment until my window opens, but who's counting?!? Lol

 

Honestly, I'm really just waiting to apply for the N400. I couldn't care less whether they approve the I-751 first as ultimately, the goal is to become a US citizen and I figured it probably won't get touched until November 1 anyway (November CSC filer here).

N-400 Timeline (San Francisco field office / 5 Years Work GC filing after 12+ years on GC):

08/27/2017 (day 00): N-400 application was filed online on ELIS

08/28/2017 (day 01): ELIS case status was changed to "We received your application"; Receipt notice letter PDF was posted on ELIS; 

09/01/2017 (day 05): ELIS case status was changed to "We scheduled your biometrics appointment"; 

09/06/2017 (day 10): Biometrics appointment letter PDF was posted on ELIS; Biometrics appointment was scheduled for 9/20/2017 

09/07/2017 (day 11): Early walk-in biometrics was completed; ELIS showed "Biometrics Completed On Sept 07, 2017"; took a printout and walked-in. No need to wait for the mail. 

09/08/2017 (day 12): ELIS case status was changed to "We reviewed your biometrics"

09/13/2017 (day 17): ELIS case status was changed to "USCIS has Scheduled Interview, will mail appointment letter"

Wait until the case status changes to "USCIS has scheduled your interview, read the letter we mailed you" 

 

At that point you'll know an actual interview has been scheduled and the paper appointment notice is on it's way in the mail to you.  Sometimes it can take a couple of weeks, sometimes a few months.

 

Since you are in-line for an interview, at the very least you know you've cleared the background check
