I will have to disagree on this one. The marriage license should already be filed by the court, signed by bride & groom, the judge & witnesses. It is also officially stamped and signed by the county clerk. Its not asking about the initial application, its the official marriage license. This shows that peticioner and beneficiary got married. No need to submit anything else

For the purposes of the I-485 what you really should provide is the marriage certificate. The marriage license is an application to get married and gets signed by the officiant after the marriage happens. It still needs to get submitted and then processed and sanctioned by the government. It does not by itself prove that you got married. The marriage certificate is the official legal document that shows that the marriage happened.

But whether or not USCIS will accept the marriage license as proof of marriage, I don't know

it really depends on the state/county i think, this forum post from 2011 (the third reply) stated that northern virginia states have the marriage certificate included in the "marriage register" form and it's stamped.

here's the link:

if you can get your marriage certificate then that's better. but if your state does it different, just try calling the clerk office to see what you guys can provide.

I'm guessing that's what it is, different State and Laws. I'm sure USCIS is aware of this, so I'm not too worried. I will see and find out lol 😊

I wouldn't worry. As people have been pointing out, different states have different laws and maybe in your state the filed marriage license is what serves at the official marriage certificate, in which case USCIS will be okay with it.  I'm just speaking from my AOS experience in California.

Good luck with the AOS process!

Hello all. I am not yet at the AOS stage but my fiancée has her interview on Monday for her K-1. I am curios to know if any of you that filed this month did your medical exam in your home country include the i-693 form or did you have to have that filled out by a doctor in the states?

The medical exam at K-1 stage, is definitely done in home country. It would defeat the purpose for a Visa if its done in the USA.  The doctor will fill out form I-693, make sure beneficiary gets all his shots overseas. Although Vaccines are not required for a K1, they will be required for the AOS in the USA. However, they will a little expensive overseas, but let me tell you its a lot better than having them done in the USA. I had trouble finding a USCIS doctor willing to do ONLY the Vaccine Supplement without requesting beneficiary to do the entire medical, which cost of $400 or greater if performed. I called over 60 clinics, local and nonlocal. I was even willing to go out of state to have this done and drive at least 4 or 5 hours to a certified doctor. Some clinics required him to be a registered patient just to sign his Vaccine Report, and a full medical, ridiculous!!! I explained to all of them he already had his medical and reminded USCIS instructions. That if beneficiary has done his medical within one year period, he is not required for another medical only the vaccines.

So in short, if you want to save time and the headaches trying to find a doctor here for the Vaccines, please have them done overseas and his full medical. The full medical is required for the K1 visa anyways, so even if the doctor tells you vaccines are optional at this  point, do them at that point, I recommend it.

Yes she got her vaccines and medical exam done in her home country. I am wondering if I-693 had to be used or just proof of exam and vaccines for the AOS packet?

if it's done within the last 12 months from now, then you just need to send a copy of the DS-3025, which is the vaccination record provided by the panel physician during her medical exam.
