My husband's case never did change from nonimmigrant the whole time, his went that way too, from his interview date to him getting issued was 10 days. From "Ready to AP,  to ready after more back ground check, back to AP then issued. Took 10 business days. But his status never said immigrant.

Generally for most people on K1 it starts out as Immigrant and then once it's approved, it is changed from immigrant to non-immigrant along with the creation date changing and it going through its final stages of ready/ap/ready/issued. But there are always going to be some exceptions or someone not updating the ceac website.

Yes, that's great! I never saw it go ready though, it all happened by surprise so maybe it happened. I did email the embassy several times and even called NVC, none of them updated the "last updated date".

Is it at all possible, after they change the case creation date and category to non-immigrant, that they would deny the visa or go into further background checks? Or does it mean that the original AP process is over and this is the final stage?

hello

i'm in the exact same situation like you , got stuck in AP since 15 Dec 2016 , got few date updates

and on 29 march 2017 , the embassy called me asking to send them my passport, new medical and police certificate , i sent the papers on 11 April 2017 , and on 12 April 2017 my case creation date and last update became 12 April 2017 , and also changed to non immigrant visa , and since that time , still under AP without any new updates, even though i inquired about my case , they gave me the same traditional answer " your case is under mandatory processing "

try to send them an inquiry and let me know what happens

good luck

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

Have you heard anything yourself? If not, then think of it like this: you're like us too - case creation date changed, case approved and all but still waiting for D.C's approval.

But in shaa Allah your case is different.

For me, almost 8 months but only 3+ after said "approval" .. we're just waiting for the visa now.

No one can expedite this process .. not even the congressman. I've tried, he tried, and everyone else before us tried.

No one, and I mean NONE, has suffered, and will continue to suffer (in actual physical, direct form), from this process more than my fiancee and I do now. (for privacy reasons I cannot say how).

There's nothing we can do except make duaa to Allah and wait.
