Case creation date changed - still in AP !!!!

Hey everyone,

I was in AP on my K1 visa after interview for 5+ months. I received a call from the U.S Embsy., a month ago, asking to send a renewed medical + my passport. I then asked if I was approved, and they said yes and said after I send these items I wait for my visa.

As soon as they received the documents, my case creation date and status update became the same, as well as "Immigrant" was changed to "non-immigrant". Same signs of an approval as I saw on the forums here.

Status was AP after interview - never changed as far as I can tell - it remains as AP (I never saw it change to something else before they approved it, because I didn't check) - also status date never changed until now, it remains the same as the new creation date.

According to other members' posts, visa is usually issued after 2~10 days. It has been a month of calender days and over 15 days of business days.

Other than them preparing my envelop and visa, both of which shouldn't really take more than 2~10 days ...

My questions are as follows:

1-Has anyone had/saw any similar situation?

2-Is it possible that it takes this long after an approval?

3-What else could be the reason for the hold up here?

Experts only please!

Thank you.

CEAC will read "Issued" when the process is complete.

It should stay under "Immigrant" visa.

It's a K1 visa, so why should it say Immigrant after being approved? That's kind of counter to what other VJ members have said.

I'll try to do that, but hopefully someone here will answer.

K-1, while being 'non-immigrant' it has immigrant intent. When you search for it on CEAC you should only see it come up under Immigrant Visas.

That's usually before approval. On many posts here, many VJ members say that theirs also changed in the same way after being approved - after that the CEAC status goes to AP-Ready-AP-issued.

Not always, just because it happens to 100 people doesn't mean it happens to you. While using the site as reference, you can't take it as fact as each case is unique.

Trust me I watched our status, "Ready for Interview", "AP", "Ready(Open status)", "Issued".

I used CEAC status as a reference to support the fact that they called and told me I'm approved. So it's pretty weird that I'm still not getting my visa.

Thanks, but it's been a month already - that is too long in comparison to others who got it within 2 weeks, no?

My husband's case never did change from nonimmigrant the whole time, his went that way too, from his interview date to him getting issued was 10 days. From "Ready to AP,  to ready after more back ground check, back to AP then issued. Took 10 business days. But his status never said immigrant.

It's usually a good thing when your case gets a new creation date and it changes from immigrant to non immigrant, that's how it is for most of us before the status changes to issued. Impossible to say how long it will take though, just like with every other part of the immigration process.
