I-90 Application - Green Card Found!

Hi!

I recently filed I-90, the application to replace my green card. I believed it to be lost or stolen. However, the police department contacted me to say they have my green card and are mailing it back to me.

When I called the National Service Center, they told me that my existing Green Card was voided and I'd have to continue with the application. However, when I spoke to an Immigration Services Officer by escalating the call, they told me that it isn't voided, that I can continue to use it and moreover I'll be getting a refund of the application fee.

Can you possibly offer guidance as to which of the two folks I spoke to were correct? I'm going to the UK in July, and the last thing I need is to be denied re-entry into the United States!

Thanks as always.

Be prepared for the eternal waiting game. Be prepared for average news.

Hi, I don't know the answer to your question but is very concerning that you got two different answers!

If you filled the i-90 you will be soon getting your notice to attend the biometrics interview.

If your card was forwarded to a Tier 2 from the first call then the second call will be correct. The first line support can only see so much of your information. Basically the same updates that you yourself can get online. They can not see or enter case specific info about the processing. They probably told you what would happen had your case proceeded further. The second officer would have been able to see exactly where in the process your application was and cancel it. You should be getting a confirmation letter about this though.
