New I-129F (4/10/17 Ediiton) G-325A Required?

 Share

I've seen this asked a few times now and it seems like there's not really a clear answer right now. Does the new I-129F still require the 2 G-325s to be filed with it?

The key information from the G-325A is now included in the I-129F, and all references to the G-325A have been removed from the I-129F instructions and the USCIS page for the I-129F.

Current I-129F page: https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f

I-129F page for the previous version of the I-129F: https://web.archive.org/web/20170129055033/https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f

The following text in red below was removed in the latest I-129F page:

See the Optional Checklist pdf to assist you which can also be found in https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f. It can be found under the new I-129F form and yes, you need to file 2 G325As, one for you and your fiance.

Current timeline:

July 2019 - filed I-751

August 2020 - filed N400

Sept. 2020 - i-751 status "Case Was Transferred to a New Office". Transferred to NBC.

April 12, 2021 - N400 interview in LA passed (with a pending i-751)

May 20, 2021 - I-751 status changed to Approved and N400 status changed to Oath Will Be Scheduled. 🤩

May 21, 2021 - received a call and email from USCIS Los Angeles with my NOA with my oath schedule.

May 28, 2021 - oath taking schedule in USCIS DTLA office. 😍

Right, but that checklist wasn't updated with the new forms. The checklist isn't an official document of requirements - it's a helper to remind you. So I wonder if it just wasn't updated since all other references to the form have been removed.

Thanks for the feedback!

Missed my chance to update my last post... dang.

From the checklist:

"This optional checklist does not replace or change statutory or regulatory requirements. We recommend that you review these requirements, as well as the appropriate form instructions, before completing and submitting Form I-129F."

The funny thing is I called USCIS today and they said it was required, then they checked the instructions and said it wasn't required. It "should be fine" without it... =___= That's not exactly the most reassuring response from the misinformation line.

Seeing as it is not in the required documentation in the new I-129F form, you do not need it. Plus, the new I-129F form has all of the information on the G-325A form on it. Here is a screenshot that may reassure you (it is from the help chat box from the USCIS website).

Hi!

While searching for some information, I ran into some threads where people ask what to do when the application fields don't allow to type N/A , None and etc. Just thought I would give a tip on how to go around locked fields, instead of handwriting N/A or None later after printing the form.

Go to edit at the top of your pdf you're filling out where all the tools are listed then

go to preferences. A window will pop up,

find JavaScript on the list at the left side

remove the tick from "enable Acrobat JavaScript''

Don't forget to press OK. Now it should work

I hope it helps!

I have been helping out a friend on his K1 application, and he called USCIS and was told specifically that the 325 was no longer required.  He decided to include them in his package even though they have redundant information.  I have heard of a few people submitting recently without them, but I think it is too early to tell.

Regardless, all the most current instructions with the exception of the possibly out-dated optional checklist say the 325 is not required.
