You can look through placement agencies and such; but can be costly... and with the new reforms taking place it might be hard to get a J-1, or other similar visa without having some extensive and above and beyond qualifications/experienc, ect.

You cannot just apply for a work visa. You need to talk to someone who would sponsor you and they have to make sure that no American qualifies for the job.
Many of those jobs are jobs where at least a Bachelor's degree is required or if you have other qualifications and a lot of experience.

There are a lot of hairdressers/ hairstylists here in the US. They don't need someone from out of the country.

You might have a chance if you have been Madonna's hairstylist or have done the hair for Vogue cover shoots, for example. Hair stylists are not something we are in desperate need of here in the US.

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

Since you are from Italy you can enter under the ESTA program up to 90 days max. But you are NOT allowed to work and be compensated in ANY form. However you can use the time in LA to make new contacts and show people your skills, sort of as an audition like an actor would do. That is totally fine & legal. If you are lucky you meet somebody who might need your services when that person is coming to Italy and that could help you building your resume towards an O1 visa, because that is usually the one that any type of artist is going for.

But it needs job offers in the US and a certain reputation and level. You DONT have to be famous, that is always a false assumption. But certainly a certain standing in your profession. The less known you are however, the stronger the sponsors and jobs have to be.

Good luck!

if you have enough money to open your own salon you could do an investor visa. I forget the details but you have to invest so much and create so many jobs for you to get the visa.

good luck

I highly doubt a hair stylist would have $500K just sitting around waiting to be invested.

First of all that is the minimum investment for EB-5 category. There is also the E-2, which requires way less investment:

Second lets not speculate of what a certain group of people can or not.

E-2 is non-immigrant.

And second, let's be realistic - if you ask on a forum about a way to immigrate, chances are you're not one of those that has a large capital laying around.
