New EAC holder

I received my EAC, employment authorization card about a week and a half ago... and couple days after that I went to the SSN office and applied for a social number, which I just received today. It says "valid for work only with DHS authorization" my question is, can I use that SSN to open a bank account? Or get a place to live? Because it says valid for work only so I'm confused... anyone who's familiar with this?...

Yes, you can use it for everything you would use a regular SSN for. The notation means that when used for employment purposes, it's only valid for that specific purpose together with the EAD.
