Internship while waiting for work visa

Hey all,

 

So my finace was offered an internship in the states for when he comes over here on a K-1 visa. We plan to get married as soon as he gets here and submit for his green card and work visa but is he able to take an internship while he waits for his work visa as long as he is not getting paid?

Probably not without EAD

Not about getting paid, if the work is anything a person might be reasonably expected to be compensated for (not a soup kitchen or animal shelter) you need to wait for EAD.
