Three years from first green card issue date, or second?

Unfortunately, my wife and I moved to the US two months before our second anniversary.  Her green card is not a 10 year one.  I have to do the I-751 early next year.  We've lived in the US for 1 year.  Does the three year residence requirement start on the issue date of her current green card, or the date of issue of the 10 year card we will get?  Will we actually need four years?

3 years from the original issuance of GC.

3 years is for citizenship. You can start the removal of conditions (to get 10 year green card) 90 days before the 2 year expiry on green card. Not 3 years. You would be out of status.

I believe he is asking in order to apply for citizenship because he is going to apply for the ROC early next year correct OP?

But the citizenship 3-year counter, does it start from the date of her first green card issuance, or the date on the 10-year (that she gets next year)?

Even though the first GC is conditional for all intents and purposes it is still a GC so those 2 years count.

it's actually 3 years from the date that shows under Resident since  xx/xx/xx , that is when the permanent residency status started .

The actual GC is the physical proof of that status, what they care about is when that status began - 

in my case , I came to the US with the I-551 stamp in January , and only got my first physical card a month or so later.... my count always begins on the date that I-551 stamp was issued at port of entry, that is when I became a permanent resident.
