Welcome to another monthly thread for those going through NVC

 

Please read everything below and refer to it throughout your NVC journey, whether this is your first month at NVC or your third.

Before posting questions, please read the wiki Saylin wrote on the NVC process here. Once you're done, read it one or two more times to really understand it ;)Don't forget to also read the official form instructions as well as USCIS and NVC's websites!

Yes this thread was created by our great Queen Saylin and the knowledge is still going forward. This thread I pray stays alive and well as many who have gone through the process or still going can chime in and help and assist.

If you're wondering about time frames, look at the fellow members right here in this thread! Study their signatures/timelines and make notes. VJ also has this awesome page. Use it! I sure did during my process That means if you are on this thread WE expect you to have an up to date timeline.

And once you've got a case complete, please join the case complete/interview thread started by me, Dwheels76 on (currently April 2017 thread),

God is great,my wife called NVC last night and the rep to her that my interview is scheduled for 12th of April,2017.Glory be to God.i wish rest people that are waiting for C.C and their interview day to get it soon.Amen

I got my Noa2 last week and was told my file has been sent to nvc will call then this week to get a case number

USCIS approved in Feb 22, sent to NVC on Feb 23 waiting for case number but definitely calling to NVC today

Hi everyone just an update of my status in the previous thread i was asking about the 3NAs and everyone's telling it usually means case complete..was meaning to call nvc but became busy and now just this very instant i received email from nvc that my file is now on queue for interview scheduling..thank god! Guess the 3NAs are on point..wishing everyone the same!!

Our petition is on its way to NVC, just got sent from USCIS on Monday. Hoping to get everything submitted to NVC within the next couple of weeks. 

 

How long has it been taking for a case number to be assigned after being received at NVC?

Im not sure but mine was 2-3weeks..im not constantly calling though so im not sure what the exact date they assigned my case number

The NVC Wiki explains how to figure out when your case number was assigned:

 

"How to Find Out WHEN Your Case Number was Assigned

For those that don't call every single day and want to know exactly what date their case number was assigned, there's an easy way to find out that simply involves looking at your case number. The first three letters are the three-letter consulate/embassy code. The next four numbers are the year the case number was assigned. The next three numbers are the Julian date it was assigned, plus 500. And finally, the last three numbers are the sequential order of when it was assigned that date.

For example: MTL2014815162. Let's put some lines in to divide it up. So: MTL|2014|815|162. This means that this case is going through Montreal and the number was assigned on November 11th, 2014, and it was the 162nd case that day to be assigned a number."

Oww thank you! so the date my case number was assigned was also the exact date i received them in my email..hmm impressive..so i think pretty much 19days from the time i received i797 in the mail
